Atmosphere-Controlled Furnace Heat Treatment
This process relies on a special gas atmosphere to cover and protect the metal during the process of improving its quality and properties.
The heat treatment processes we provide using an atmosphere-controlled furnace are:
1. Carburizing Process (HCQT)
- Suitable for: Low Carbon Low Alloy Steels, such as SCM415, SCM420, and SCR420.
- This process involves introducing carbon elements to the surface of the workpiece to increase its hardness after the subsequent quenching process.
2.Carbonitriding Process (HCNQT)
- Suitable for: Common (plain) Steels, such as SS400, SPHC, and JSC270.
- This process involves introducing carbon and is supplemented by nitrogen elements to the surface of the workpiece. This improves the hardenability of these common steel grades.
2. Quenching & Tempering (HQT)
-
Suitable for: Medium Carbon Steels (Carbon content: 0.3% and above).
-
This is a full-body hardening process for the workpiece. The resulting part will have increased hardness extending from the surface right through to the core of the material.
